Brenda J Hammond's Obituary
Brenda J. Hammond, 73, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 10:26 a.m. on Friday, April 18, 2014 at her home in Martinsville. She was born on April 2, 1941 in Paris, IL, the daughter of Fred Stepp and Marie Remlinger Stepp. On May 23, 1973 she married John Hammond in Darwin, IL. Survivors include her husband of 40 years, John Hammond of Martinsville, IL; children, Brian Martin and wife Debbie of Martinsville, IL, Kelly Ford and husband Steve of Paris, IL, John Hammond, Jr. and wife Alex of Martinsville, IL, James Hammond and wife Rikki of Martinsville, IL and Jacob Hammond and wife Sheena of Martinsville, IL; sisters, Freida Pine and husband Victor and Anna Trover, both of Paris, IL; fourteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded by her parents; infant brother, Charles Frederick Stepp and sister, Kay Osborne. Brenda was a member of the Island Grove Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School. She retired in 1973 from TRW in Marshall were she was a winder and enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, reading, gardening and mushroom hunting. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at the Greenwell Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Black officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, rural Martinsville, IL. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, April 21, 2014 at the Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., Martinsville, IL. Memorial donations may be made to the Baptist Children's Home, 949 County Road 1300 N, Carmi, IL 62821.
