Beverly was a beautiful and gentle soul who entered this world on April 25, 1933 - the 3rd of seven children born to Fred Harold Hyatt, Sr. and Irene Bostick Hyatt. On February 4, 1961, Beverly married Donald Edwards Barber at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Memphis, TN. They were blessed with three children: Donald Christopher, Penelope Hyatt, and Beverly Anne. Beverly was raised in a Christian home and her faith in God and her relationship with Christ were very important in her life. She was a lifelong member of The United Methodist Church and at the time of her death, was a member of the Casey United Methodist Church. Once her children were in school, Beverly began working as a secretary for Holiday Inns, Inc. in Memphis, TN. She loved working there and retired after 20 years. Beverly was a wonderful mother and homemaker and kept very busy between balancing her job, her family, and all her children's extracurricular activities. She attended all their games and concerts and loved taking her children to parks! She enjoyed reading, visiting with neighbors, and watching Cardinals baseball on t.v. Beverly had always wanted to travel and in 1990 was able to embark on the trip of a lifetime to visit her younger daughter in Germany. While there she toured many beautiful countries in Europe and saw spectacular sites including Rottenburg Ob der Tauber, The Keukenhof in Holland, and the Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria. Beverly then worked as a unit secretary at Eastwood Hospital in Memphis, TN, before leaving that position in 1995 to move to Johnston City, IL in order to help with childcare for her first grandchild. In 1998 she moved to Cullman, Alabama to be close to her youngest child and family. With failing health and the onset of Alzheimer's, she moved into Heartland Nursing Center in Casey, IL in January, 2013. Her family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Heartland Nursing Center for the excellent care and love given to Beverly during her time there. Beverly was a loving and generous woman whose life centered around her family. Even after the onset of Alzheimer's, Beverly remained a loving and joyful person whose smile, good humor, and wonderful southern drawl, will be sorely missed by all who knew her! Beverly is survived by her three children: Chris Barber (Jennifer) of State College, PA; Penelope H. Barber (Howard Bell) of Casey, IL; and Anne Phillips (Stan) of Cullman, AL; six grandchildren: David and Rachel Bell of Casey, IL, Noah Phillips of Cullman, AL, and Emma, Sarah, and Lily Barber of PA; and three sisters: Irene (Jim) Volgas of Bartlett, TN; Kay (Jimmy) Finkelstein of VA and Pamela (Jim) Terry of Scotland;. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Don (who died in 1998), and 3 siblings.
