Betty Jane Darling's Obituary
Betty Jane Darling, 82, of Casey, IL passed away at 10:50 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Union Hospital, Terre Haute, IN. She was born February 13, 1929 in Clark County, IL, the daughter of Everett Burris and Effie Colvin Burris. On September 24,1949, she married Rupert Rex "Bill" Darling in Toledo, IL. He passed away April 25, 1998. Survivors include her children, Diana Sue Redman and husband Denny of Westfield, IL; Marsha Ann Orrell of Clearwater, FL; Tex Darling and wife Rebecca of Greenup, IL and Debbie Zellers and husband Jerry of Martinsville, IL; brother, Billy Ray Burris and wife Carole of Casey, IL; sister, Lucy Marie Montgomery of Martinsville, IL; nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson, Matthew Orrell; brothers, Eugene, John, Dean, Kenneth, Victor, Max, Bobby Joe and Buddy Burris; sisters, Nancy Lou Burris, Maxine Burris, Elizabeth Perkins and Marjorie Hammond. Betty regrettably retired from Ettlebrick Shoe Factory after twenty-five years. She was known for her wonderful baked goodies. The most famous being her chocolate chip cookies, angel food cakes and brownies, which the great grandkids enjoyed greatly. Betty also enjoyed cracking and picking out hickory nuts. She also enjoyed cheering on her favorite team, the St. Louis Cardinals. Many people also enjoyed her homemade crafts and embroidery pictures, which went for great value at her family reunions auctions. Mostly, she will be remembered as a loving and thoughtful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at the Markwell Funeral Home in Casey, IL with Rev. gene Southard officiating. Burial will follow in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL 62420. Memorial donations and contributions may be made to the donor's choice.
