Bertha Lorine Knecht Staley, 98, of Casey, Illinois passed away at 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at Casey Health Care Center, Casey, Illinois. She was born on October 13, 1909 in Casey, Illinois the daughter of Ferdinand Knecht and Lydia Oca Barbee Knecht. Survivors include her sons, LeRoy Staley of Casey, IL and Bobby Staley and his wife Becky of Casey, IL; daughter, Betty Hudson and husband Larry of Moweaqua, IL; grandchildren, Richard Staley, Shellie Staley, Penni Young, Tami Forlines, Jody Burleyson, Cory Staley, Jason Chrysler, and Michael Staley; great grandchildren, Audra Staley, Ryan Staley, Kelsey Staley, Morgan Young, Garrett Young, Blake Young, Abby Forlines, Erin Forlines, Ella Forlines, Jayln Chrysler, Brayson Chrysler, Tyler Burleyson, Nathan Burleyson, Sydney Burleyson, Elliott Staley, Adam Staley and Kyra Staley. Her parents, son, Ernest Staley; grandsons, Brian Hudson and Douglas Staley; daughter in law, Nancy Bridgman Staley; brothers, Vere Knecht and Elbert Knecht; and sisters, Rose Darr and Edith Ulrey preceded her in death. Mrs. Staley was a homemaker and co-owner of the Old Homestead Café in Casey, Illinois with Nancy Staley. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Casey, Illinois. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at the First Baptist Church in Casey, Illinois with Rev. Tom Marsh, Rev. Gene Ellis and Rev. Billy Ray Ulrey officiating. Burial will be in the Washington Street Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 - 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the Church. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church General Fund, 101 E. Alabama St., Casey, IL 62420. Memorial tributes may be sent to the family at www.markwellfuneralhome.com. Markwell Funeral Home of Casey, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
