Berniece Leann Witten's Obituary
Berniece Leann Witten, 65, of Rensselaer, IN formerly of Greenup, IL passed away at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October, 14, 2009 at Rensselaer Care Center in Rensselaer, IN. She was born November 2, 1943 in Watseka, Illinois the daughter of Wayne Eugene Johnson and Beatrice Veryl Stout Johnson. In November of 1977, she married Hearl Thomas Witten in Lake Station, IN. Tom passed away in January, 1996. Survivors include her brother, Jerry Jordon Johnson and wife Karen of Winfield, IN; her sister, Clara Sue Kinsel and husband Frank of Hebron, IN; her twin sister, Bernice Leora Hudson of Evansville, IN and husband, Russell Edward of Alsip, IL; her sister, Janet Johnson Davé and husband, Nikhil of San Diego, CA, her Aunt Marie Shanks, Uncle George Hudson, five nieces, nine nephews, seven grand nephews, twelve grand nieces and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, nephew, Frankie Kinsel, and second husband. Berniece was a caring and loving sister and aunt, especially to Debbie. She had a very close relationship with her twin Bernice - growing up they were inseparable and no one could tell them apart. Because they looked alike and dressed alike, people would call them Sis', and the closest one would come running! At the Care Center, the staff called her Bernie', and said that she often put them in stitches with laughter. Berniece fell in love and married twice. Graveside funeral services and burial will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2009 at the Washington Cemetery south of Casey, IL with Pastor Mark Copley officiating. Fellowship and dinner with the family will follow the service at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1000 US Hwy 40, Casey, IL 62420. Directions to Washington Cemetery, south of Casey, IL (rural Cumberland County). Take Rte 49 south of Casey, IL to Co Road 700 N, turn west (right) this will become Co Road 500 N as you enter Cumberland County, IL. The cemetery is on the north side of the road.
