Barbara Ann Newell's Obituary
Barbara Ann Newell, age 88, of Westfield, IL passed away at 8:17 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Heartland Christian Village in Neoga, IL. She was born on March 18, 1931 in Oakland, IL, the daughter of Russell Theodore Galbreath and Mildred Opal Snyder Galbreath. On September 2, 1949 she married Richard Eugene Newell in Corinth, MS. He passed away on May 15, 2013. Survivors include daughter, Vickie Gilbert and husband Steve of Westfield, IL; son, Mike Newell and wife Kris of Charleston, IL; grandsons, Nate Gilbert and wife LeeAnn of Lincoln, IL, Nick Gilbert and wife Brittany, of Casey, IL; Jason Gilbert and wife Tara of Gridley, IL and Travis McBenge and wife Lacy of Robinson, IL; granddaughter, Katy Garavaglia and husband Jimmy of Charleston, IL; great grandchildren, Drew and Trey Gilbert; Grey, Gyllyane, Sage and Maize Gilbert; Rylie Hines Gilbert; Hutson, Mia and Brogan Holsapple; Miley, Mady, Harley Kidwell and Henry McBenge. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; son, Rusty Newell; brother, Max Galbreath and grandson, Kyle Newell. Barbara was employed as a teller at Westfield State Bank and Eastern Illinois University in the textbook library. She was a member of Westfield United Methodist Church and was an avid gardener, bird watcher and animal lover. Per the family"™s request, a private family service will be held at a later date.
