B Joan Sweet's Obituary
B. Joan Sweet, 82, of Casey, IL passed away at 2:33 a.m. on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Heartland Nursing Center, Casey, IL. She was born October 17, 1930 in Terre Haute, IN, the daughter of William Timothy Wood and Lillie Florence Taylor Wood. On September 2, 1951, she married Max L. Sweet in Martinsville, IL. He passed away on November 19, 2005. Survivors include her son, Bradley Sweet of Casey, IL; grandson, Dusty Sweet and wife Michelle of Eureka, MO; granddaughter, Kerri Miller and husband Jason of Casey, IL; great granddaughter, Laylie Miller of Casey, IL ; nephews, Gregory Sweet and wife Robin of Tucson, AZ and Jeffrey Sweet and wife Marilyn of Robinson, IL and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Joan was a graduate of Martinsville High School. She previously worked as a secretary for Marathon Oil Co. in Martinsville, IL and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Casey United Methodist Church. She and Max were involved in many political organizations throughout their married lives. Joan enjoyed traveling with her husband; they spent many years traveling throughout the world. Her love for cooking was well known and enjoyed by her family and friends. She loved to play cards and was a member of the Casey Country Club Tuesday afternoon bridge club. Joan was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. One of her greatest qualities was her wonderful sense of humor. Graveside services and burial will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at the Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL.
