Alice Margaret Merrick's Obituary
Alice Margaret Merrick, 87, of Canon City, Colorado, formerly of Westfield, Illinois, passed away at 3:45 a.m. on Sunday, March 16, 2008, at the Progressive Care Center, Canon City, Colorado. She was born on May 17, 1920, in Vernon, Illinois, the daughter of Warren Caudle and Ruth Tella Paine Caudle. In 1941 she married James Epperson; he passed away in World War II in 1944. On December 3, 1949, she married Wilbur Lewis Merrick; he passed away on September 7, 1986. Survivors include her son, Don Epperson of Cotopaxi, Colorado; grandsons, Jim Epperson and wife Marcy of Canon City, Colorado, and Kurt Epperson and wife Linda of Canon City, Colorado; great-granddaughters, Shelby Epperson and Jordan Epperson; great-grandson, Luke Epperson; and daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Kimball Kingery of Canon City, Colorado. Her parents, husbands, stillborn daughter, Linda Sue Epperson, and brothers, Paul Caudle and Donald Caudle preceded her in death. Alice was a member of the Westfield United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, and a former Study Hall Monitor for Westfield High School years ago. Alice was a homemaker and loved to cook for her family, especially her pies, yeast rolls and Christmas candies. She also enjoyed collecting antique dishes and dolls. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2008, at the Westfield United Methodist Church, Westfield, Illinois, with Rev. Charles Shelquist officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Westfield, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Church in Westfield, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Memorial tributes may be sent to the family at www.markwellfuneralhome.com.
