Stephen Samuel Glendenning, age 61, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 1:18 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2020 at his home. He was born March 24, 1958 in Paris, IL the son of Virgil Benjamin Glendenning and Alice Lorraine Fairbanks Glendenning.
He is survived by his sister, Lori Hawkins of Martinsville, IL; brother, Michael Cameron (Carol) of Muskegon, MI; aunts, Patricia Peters of Watseka, IL and Billie Jean Bedarczyk of Chicago Heights, IL; nieces, Michelle Jones (Kevin) of Austin, TX, Beth Glendenning of Carrollton, IL, Brandi Glendenning of Troy, IL, Rebecca Granger of AZ and Carrie Morris of AZ and his beloved dogs, Miss Kitty and Sir Winston. He was preceded by his parents, brothers, Harry James Howe III and John Roy Glendenning.
Stephen was a 1976 graduate of Rincon High School and a 1979 graduate of Lakeland College where he studied cosmetology as well as obtaining his teaching license. Stephen was a multi-talented entrepreneur. He owned and operated Stephen's Salon in Martinsville, Illinois for over forty years and PHD on Hair in Charleston, Illinois. He also had a successful dance studio, floral shop, and fine dining restaurant where he was able to exhibit his fun, eccentric personality with all of his talents. Stephen enjoyed cooking, entertaining, decorating, painting, playing the piano and teaching the art of dancing. He cared deeply for his family, friends, clients, and animals. His smiling face and vivacious personality will be greatly missed.
Memorial services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, January 13, 2020 at Greenwell Funeral Home with Danelle Jackson officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service on Monday at Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., Martinsville, IL. Burial will be immediately following the service at the family lot in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Martinsville, IL.
