William Owen “Bill” Weaver, age 91, of Casey, IL passed away on Thursday, November 9th, 2023 in the presence of his family.
Bill was born on August 1, 1932 in Casey, IL the son of Harold and Phyllis Weaver. On January 10th, 1953 he married Anita Williams. She passed away on January 22, 1979. On August 5th, 1979, he married Sandra Ploeger at the Casey United Methodist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Sandy Weaver; children Diana Richards, Casey, IL, Debbie Leichty [Mike], Smyrna, TN, Wm Randall Weaver, Franklin, TN, Lisa Weaver, Franklin, TN, Jeri Bland [Rex], Casey, IL, Leanne Collins [David], Lakeville, MN; Grandchildren Michael Richards [Jamie], Wesley Richards [Katie], Joey Fuller [Mike], all of Casey; Jeff Leichty [Jessica], Washington IL, Andy Leichty [Erin], Nolensville, TN, Stacey Turner [Blake], Brentwood, TN, Wm Joel Weaver, Franklin TN, Alisha Wright [Nick], Sheridan, WY, Tyler Bland [Cathrinne], Mattoon, IL, Seth Bland, Casey, IL, Matthew Collins, Des Moines, IA, Andrew Collins, Lakeville, MN, 26 great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren, sister in law, Joyce, many nieces and nephews, his best friend, Steve Voris and many great neighbors. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Anita, brother, Gene, sister, Arlene, son in law, Gary Richards & grandson, Jason Leichty.
Bill was a 1949 graduate of Casey High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He worked for Marathon Oil Company and Dale Carnegie before returning to Casey to begin a farming partnership with his brother Gene for many years. After retiring from farming he enjoyed his hobby of woodworking.
Bill served on the Casey School Board, the Clark County Board, the Workforce Investment Board, the ECIAA Board, the CAMA board and the Clark Edgar Rural Water Board. He was a member of the Casey First Christian Church where he was a past Deacon and Elder.
The funeral service honoring his life will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at the United Methodist Church in Casey, IL with Rev. Dr. Joe Richard officiating. Burial will follow at the Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at the United Methodist Church, 703 N State Hwy 49, Casey, IL.
