William Jay Bollenbaugh, age 85, of Casey, IL passed away unexpectedly at 10:29 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL. He was born June 9, 1938 in Boone, Iowa the son of William Jennings Bollenbaugh and Juanita Mae Blatzly Bollenbaugh.
Survivors include his children, William Donald Bollenbaugh (Rhonda) of St. Joseph, MO; Jodi McKnight of WI; Jason Jay Bollenbaugh of Nashville, TN; siblings, Joyce Anderson of Boone, IA; Gloria Gallogly of Nixa, MO and Ben Munson of Boone, IA; five grandchildren, several great grandchildren and many friends. He was preceded by his father, William Bollenbaugh, mother, Juanita Munson and stepfather, Keith Munson.
Bill was a 1957 graduate of Lincoln High School in Webster City, IA and continued his education at Central Iowa Community College in Webster City, IA. He served his country in the US Army from 1958 – 1961 at Camp Irwin, CA and in Germany. Bill was a sales representative for Heartland Ag and worked in the agricultural industry for nearly 50 years. He was a member of the Casey United Methodist Church. Bill loved talking with people and never met a stranger. He had a great fondness for dogs; enjoyed rooting for his beloved Chicago Cubs, fishing and road trips through the countryside. His most recent trip to Iowa was a few weeks ago to celebrate his 85th birthday. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at Markwell Funeral Home with Pastor David Beerbower officiating. Burial will follow in the Vernon Addition Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 10 – 11 a.m. prior to the service on Tuesday at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
