Wanita Mae (Green) Morrison, age 84, of Roanoke, IL passed away early Tuesday morning, August 31, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 29, 1936 in rural Casey, IL, the daughter of Rev. Gaylord Green and Ruth Marion Lee Green. On December 21, 1954 she married Julian Chester Morrison, Jr. at her grandparents’ house in rural Casey, IL.
Survivors include her husband of almost 67 years, Julian Chester Morrison Jr.; daughters, Karen Simmons (Randy) of Morton, IL, Debra Jennings (Jerry) of Carlock, IL, Cynthia Spires (John) of Bloomington, IL; son, Gregory Morrison (Angeline) of Bloomington, IL; grandchildren, Adam Jennings (Miranda) of Peoria, IL, Rachel Morrison of Grayslake, IL, Joel Morrison (Natalie) of Streamwood, IL, Jacqueline Bork (Jeremy) of Bloomington, IL, Derek Jennings of Peoria, IL, Heather Beckman (Preston) of Antioch, IL, and Natalie Morrison of Bloomington, IL; great grandchildren, Delilah Potter of Grayslake, IL, Austin Aguado of Grayslake, IL, Rosalee Jennings of Peoria, IL, Adriana Aguado of Grayslake, IL, and Seth Bork of Bloomington, IL; sisters, Joyce Clapp (Everett) of Westfield, IL, Carolyn Tetrick (James) of Sandwich, IL, Nina Lu Brown (Kenneth) of Casey, IL, and Gayle Dowling (David) of Arvada, CO, and brother in law, Dennis Lacey of Casey, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gaylord and Ruth (Lee) Green; infant grandson, Matthew Morrison; sisters, Wandalee Lang and Barbara Lacey: infant brother, John Lee Green, and brother-in-law, Robert Lang.
Wanita was a 1954 graduate of Casey High School and received her associates degree in science from Illinois Central College in East Peoria. She worked for over 30 years as a bookkeeper at Rivinus in Eureka, IL, where she was dedicated to the company and fellow employees. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Morton Illinois. She loved listening to Christian music. She loved the outdoors, spending time tending to her flowers and her garden. Her most precious memories are the times spent with family.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Olive Branch Baptist Church in rural Martinsville, IL, with the funeral service immediately following at 10:30 a.m. and Rev. Richard Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in the Olive Branch Cemetery, rural Martinsville, IL. Per CDC Guidelines, indoor masks and face coverings are required regardless of vaccination status. Attendees should also practice social distancing.
