Verna Lou Perisho Obituary

Verna Lou Perisho, age 77, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 2:45 am on Tuesday June 23, 2020 at her home. She was born on April 4, 1943 in Edgar County, IL, the daughter of Vernon Kenneth Ray and Shirley Lou Ray (Denson). On August 10, 1968, she married Neil Edgar Perisho in Carmi, IL.

Verna is survived by her daughter, Julie Adkins of Martinsville, IL; great grandsons, Joey and Nathan Perisho who lived with Neil and Verna, five grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Shirley, her sister, Karen Pruiett, her husband, Neil Perisho, sons, Corey and Daniel Perisho, daughter, Lisa Wilson, grandson, Tony Washburn and granddaughter, Heather Perisho.

Verna obtained her G.E.D. in 1982 along with her daughter Lisa.  Verna spent most of her work life at Pap-R-Products in Martinsville and TRW in Marshall.  Verna enjoyed taking pictures, recording movies, and Japanese embroidery.  Verna spent her entire life raising and caring for her family.  Verna raised children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren until she passed.

Verna was diagnosed with stage 4 lung and brain cancer in August of 2016 but fought well!  She got pneumonia and broke a hip in 2018.  Through all of this, she kept fighting.  The family would like to thank all those who came and cared for Verna during this season of her life!

A Celebration of Life service will take place on Saturday July 11, 20202 at 12:30 pm at the First Baptist Church in Martinsville, IL. Visitation will be from 11:00-12:30 prior to the service at the church. Brother Justin Sweitzer will be officiating.
