Valerie Lou (Miller) Jenkins

Valerie Lou Jenkins, age 77, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 4:14 p.m. on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at the home of her sister in rural Willow Hill, IL. She was born February 27, 1944 in Knoxville, TN, the daughter of Colmore Isaac Miller Jr. and Mamie Rosalie White Miller.  On May 5, 1968 she married Robert William Jenkins in Willow Hill, IL; he passed away on November 2, 2013.

Survivors include her sons, Robert “Bobby” Jenkins (Tammy) of Martinsville, IL, and Terry Jenkins (Uyen) of Virginia Beach, VA; sister, Rosie McClain (Steve Davis) of Willow Hill IL; grandchildren, Amber Pierson (Tylan), Vanessa Jenkins, and Mya Jenkins; great grandchildren Kamille, Kloe, and Kora Pierson; nephews, Chris McClain of Haltom City TX, and Marcus Miller of SC. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, James L. Miller, and sister, Jennie Eulalia Welch.

Valerie was a 1963 graduate of Dentsville High School in Columbia, SC. She worked as a housekeeper for Burnside Nursing Home in Marshall, IL. She was a member of the Martinsville First Christian Church.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday September 22, 2021, at Greenwell Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery, rural Willow Hill, IL. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., Martinsville, IL. (Per CDC guidelines, face coverings are required regardless of vaccination status.  Please also maintain social distancing.)
