Steven Wayne Ring

Steven Wayne Ring, age 67, of Effingham, IL passed away at 5:58 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham, IL.  He was born June 23, 1953 in Terre Haute, IN, the son of Jackie Dean “Jack” Ring and Dorothy Mae Brewer Ring.  On November 10, 1990 he married Betty Ann Pruemer in Effingham, IL. 

Survivors include his wife of almost 30 years, Betty Ann Ring of Effingham, IL; daughter, Durinda Leann Brown of Beecher City, IL; son, Travis Wayne Ring of Shumway, IL; stepdaughters, Crystal Chaney (Marion) of Elliottstown, IL and Sami Bishop (Forrest) of Greensburg, KY; eight grandchildren; brother, Dennis Ring, Sr.(Marsha) of Casey, IL; sister in law, Lori Ring of Hazel Dell, IL; uncles and aunts, Larry Ring (Bobbi) of Westfield, IL; JoElla Miedell of Springfield, IL and Jean Briener (Don) of Springfield, IL; many nephews, nieces and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Clay Ring; grandson, Dakota Ring and many uncles, aunts and cousins. 

Steven attended Casey High School.  He was a truck driver and horse jockey for many years.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting guns and collecting knives. Steve could argue with a fly.  

Funeral services will be conducted at 11a.m. on Friday, October 9, 2020 at Markwell Funeral Home with Pastor Howard Myers officiating.  Visitation will be held from 10 – 11 a.m. prior to the service at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL. (Per CDC guidelines, 50 attendees are allowed inside our facility at a time. Attendees should stay at least 6 feet apart and wear a cloth face covering.)
