Sherry Arlene Lawhorn Shaffer, age 62, of Casey, IL passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Sherry was born to Raymond and Nora Lawhorn on June 10, 1959 in Joliet, Illinois. She married Frank Shaffer of Casey, IL on February 23, 1997 in Moriah, IL.
Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Frank Shaffer of Casey, IL; children, Brooks Hills of Casey, IL; Amanda Jackson (Donald) of Kansas, IL; Jakeb Shaffer (DeAnna) of Casey, IL, and Sandra Gillespie (Dakota) of Casey, IL, and Frankie Shaffer of Casey, IL; sisters, Patricia Vance (Jerry) of Greenup, IL, Sheila Lively (Patrick) of Lopez Island, WA; Betty Shackelford of Charleston, IL, and Roberta Shackelford (Tinsley) of Greenup, IL; brothers, Robert Lawhorn (Gladys) of Casey, IL and Floyd Lawhorn (Megan) of Casey, IL; grandchildren, August Bollenbaugh (Zach), Johanna Shaffer, Damien Shaffer, Maverick Jackson (Taylor Stifal), Noah Hills, Gavyn Jackson, Devin Craig, Dylon Craig, Cody Craig, Remi Shaffer, Owen Shaffer, Jakobi Gillispie, Kylie Shaffer, Brantly Shaffer, River Shaffer, Auraya Shaffer, Mikah Shaffer, and Asher; great granddaughter, Chloe Hanley. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Bobby Lawhorn and Mikey Lawhorn; sister, Lucille Saltysic; and inlaws, Frank and Mary Lou Shaffer.
Sherry’s most prized possession besides her children and her grandchildren, whom she adored so much was her novelty store, Odds-n-Ins. Sherry loved being at home with her husband and surrounded by family and her many friends. Sherry was a wonderful wife, mother, grandma, sister, and friend. Her grandchildren were the apple of her eye.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 21, 2022 at Markwell Funeral Home with Pastor Joey Harryman officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery, Cumberland Co., IL. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday prior to the service at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL. (Per CDC Guidelines face coverings are required regardless of vaccination status in the facility. Attendees should also practice social distancing.)
