Sarah Alice (Litts) Brubaker

Sarah Alice (Litts) Brubaker, age 91, of Westfield, IL formerly of Carlyle, IL and Neoga, IL passed away at 4:45 p.m. on Monday, May 25, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 25, 1928 in Yale, IL the daughter of Carl Robert Litts and Josephine Pearl Cohoon Litts.  On February 9, 1946 she married William Lawrence Brubaker in Eldorado, IL; he passed away on April 24, 2017.  

Survivors include son, Donald Louis Brubaker (Kimberly) of Pleasanton, KS; daughters, Toni Jean Lane of Mattoon, IL; Sally Jane Brubaker of Westfield, IL; Cindy Ellen Litts of Fresno, CA and Kandy Irene Gross of Westfield, IL; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son, David L. Brubaker and son, Billy Joe Brubaker. 

Sarah was a 1946 graduate of Carlyle High School.  She and Bill moved to Westfield, IL in 1975.  Sarah owned and operated The Shop (a collectables store) in Westfield, IL for many years.  She previously worked for Ettlebrick Shoe Company.  Sarah was a faithful member of the Westfield Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and traveled to many area Churches singing with the Good News Singers. She was a charter and youngest member of the VFW, joining when she was 16 years old.  Sarah enjoyed sewing, reading, camping, singing and thrift shops.    

At her request, there will be no services.  Her ashes will be buried with her husband in the Carlyle Cemetery, Carlyle, IL at a later date.
