Ruby Genevieve (Green) Golladay

Ruby Genevieve Golladay, age 95, of Gurnee, IL formerly of Blue Island, IL and Westfield, IL passed away on Sunday evening, May 8, 2022 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL. She was born February 6, 1927 in Hutton Twp., Coles County, IL, the daughter of Clyde L. Green and Nellie Marie Riggins Green.  On June 28, 1958 she married Dale Wayne Golladay in Mattoon, IL; he passed away on March 12, 2008. 

Survivors include her children, Diana Kuper of Gurnee, IL; C. Michael Garner (Carolyn) of Pleasanton, CA and Ronald Garner of Zion, IL; grandchildren, Michael Kuper (Chelsey), Dr. Rachel Garner and Jonathan Garner (Christy); great grandchildren, Emma Kuper, Abigail Garner and Ethan Garner. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Ralph Green, Gaylord Green, Lawrence Green and sister, Wilma Green. 

Ruby was a 1944 graduate of Westfield High School.  She was retired after working as a comptometer operator and waitress.  She was a popular server and made many friends throughout her years of waiting tables.  Ruby was a passionate reader, and always had a book nearby.  Her home had many bookcases, all of them filled with her favorite books.   She enjoyed traveling, and had visited many of the states.  She had previously attended Casey First Baptist Church.  Ruby was an active member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.  She dearly loved her family, and especially enjoyed spending time with them.  She was always smiling, and a true a joy to be around.  She was very well-loved, and her sweet, kind spirit will be missed by everybody who knew her.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Marsh officiating.  Graveside committal will follow at 1 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston, IL.  Visitation will be held from 9 – 11 a.m. on Saturday morning prior to the service at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
