Robert R. Hunt Obituary

Robert R Hunt, 81, of Kimberling City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on February 13th, 2021.

Bob was born on November 8th, 1939 to D. Ray & Blanche V. [Roan] Hunt in Effingham Illinois. After graduating from Casey High School, class of 1957, Bob voluntarily joined the Air Force. He forged lifelong friendships with his teammates in the USAF European baseball league being a critical member of the Championship team in 1961.

Bob met the love of his life, Carolyn, shortly after returning from Service.  He proposed in 1962 and were wed April 12, 1963. Newlywed, Bob continued to major in Accounting at Eastern Illinois University.  After earning his Bachelor of Science, Bob started and finished his 27-year career with General Telephone & Electronics retiring in 1994.

From youth, Bob was an avid Upland Game Hunter and Fisherman.  He was a diehard Chicago Cubs, Bears & Bulls fan fortunate to see the three teams win their respective championships in his lifetime.  Continuing his love for competition, Bob enjoyed softball and bowling as long as he was physically able.  In retirement, Bob volunteered for many years with Habitat for Humanity and The Lampe Boys Ranch.  Publicly declaring Jesus as his Savior was baptized at the age of 75.  Bob developed a passion for the Webkids backpack program ensuring underprivilege youth in the Reeds Spring School System would have nutrition between school days for the weekend.

Bob was a loving Father, Husband and Uncle.  Bob was predeceased by his Mother and Father. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Carolyn [Funk] Hunt.  Son David (Lisa) Hunt of Charleston IL & Gregory (Kristel) Hunt of Reeds Spring MO; Four Grandchildren, Robert Hunt of Springfield MO, Donald Hunt of Branson MO, Dennis (Chelsea) Butler of Mattoon, IL & Dustin Smith of Effingham, IL; One Great Grandchild, Bennett Butler; Sister Patricia Farris of Mt. Vernon IL & Brother Bill (Laura) Hunt of Springfield IL; Bob adored his 23 Nieces and Nephews

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Cemetery, rural Casey, IL with graveside military rites by Casey VFW and Martinsville American Legion.  Visitation will be held from 10 – 11 a.m. prior to the service at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL. (Per CDC guidelines, 50 attendees are allowed inside our facility at a time. All attendees should social distance and wear a cloth face covering.)
