Robert Allen “Bob” Brave, age 94, of Plymouth, MI, formerly of Robinson, IL, LaPlace, LA, and Kingwood, TX passed away at 12:21 a.m. on Monday, July 25, 2022 at Independence Village in Plymouth, MI. He was born May 26, 1928 in Sorento, IL, the son of Clarence L. Brave and Clara Louise Robinet Brave. On June 14, 1953 he married Bertha Iola Dillier at the Christian Church in Casey, IL; she passed away on July 2, 2018.
Survivors include his son, Bill Brave (Michele) of Plymouth, MI; daughter, Nancy Brave Solomon (Robert) of Silver Spring, MD; grandchildren, Amelia Brave, Lukas Brave, Will Solomon, Rachel Solomon (Ross), and Leah Solomon. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and his brother Bill.
Bob was a graduate of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and a Marathon Oil Company employee for 36 years. He proudly served our country and was a WWII veteran serving in the US Army Infantry in Japan. Bob was an accomplished bridge player and loved family genealogy and St. Louis Cardinals baseball. He was also a member of the Kingwood Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Bob was a very intelligent, well-liked, kind, and generous person.
Graveside service and burial with military rites by Casey VFW and Martinsville American Legion will be conducted at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Washington Street Cemetery, Casey, IL with Rev. Tom Akers officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Saturday prior to the service at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
