Richard Wayne Simons

Richard Wayne Simons, fondly known as Rick or Slick Rick, age 63, of Casey, IL passed away at 10:11 p.m. on Monday, June 26, 2023 at his home.  He was born January 28, 1960 in Terre Haute, IN, the son of Kenneth Earl Simons and Barbara June Galeener Simons. 

Survivors include his children, Brenda Lee Morrison of Jasonville, IN; Chase Griffin (Sharon )of Paris, IL and Teresa Lynae Simons of Martinsville, IL; siblings, Pam Sandiford (Paul) of Casey IL; Tim Simons of Robinson, IL and Peggy Gardner (Ben Gardner) of Spencer, IN; Sara Richardson (Jackie Jr.) of Robinson, IL; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; aunt, Janet Murphy (David) of Martinsville, IL; uncle, Larry Galeener (Cindy) of WI; his former wife, Shelly E. Spencer of Martinsville, IL; eleven nephews and nieces and fourteen great nephews and nieces.  He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Simons and mother, June Denman.  

Rick attended Linton Stockton High School in Linton, IN.  He served his country in the US Army.  He then obtained two associate degrees from Lake Land College. Rick was a great mechanic and loved motorcycles.  He never met a stranger and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.

Celebration of Life services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at the Red Oak Shelter, Lincoln Trail State Park, 16985 E. 1350th Rd., Marshall, IL 62441.  Pastor Steve Jenkins will officiate.  

Memorial donations may be made to the family c/o Greenwell Funeral Home, PO  Box 175, Casey, IL 62420 to assist with his final expenses.
