Patsie Lee (Abernathie) Reed

Patsie Lee Reed, age 89, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 10:19 p.m. on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care in Terre Haute, IN.  She was born January 9, 1932 in Dupo, IL the daughter of William Lawrence Abernathie and Evelyn Sue Sweatland Abernathie.  On May 6, 1950 she married Verlyn Lynn Reed in East St. Louis, IL; he passed away on January 3, 2018.

Survivors include son, Brady Reed (Linda) of Casey, IL; daughter, Holly Reed Heim (Joe) of Thackerville, OK; daughter in law, Becky Reed of Martinsville, IL; grandchildren, Randy Buckner, Beth Baird, Cody Reed, Thad Reed, Cayla Reed and Eric Skillern; thirteen great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sons, Reginald Lynn Reed and Bradley Lew Reed.

Patsie and Verlyn were lifetime farmers in the Martinsville area.  She was a busy farm wife, homemaker, mother and grandmother.  She treasured the time she spent with her family and considered them her greatest joy.

Graveside services and burial will be conducted 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at St. Paul Cemetery, Martinsville, IL with Brother Randy Nave officiating.    Visitation will be held from 10 -11 a.m. prior to the service on Thursday at Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., Martinsville, IL.
