Patricia Ann "Pat" Gillis Veach

Patricia Ann (Gillis) Veach, age 84 of Casey, IL passed away peacefully at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 in St. Louis, MO with her family by her side. She was born February 7, 1939 in Newman, IL, the daughter of Benjamin Leon Gillis and Lena Katherine (Volk) Gillis.

Survivors include her son, Lonnie Collins (Mark), daughters, Patty (Evans) McCarty (John) and Cori Leann (Veach) Shackelford (Michael) and brother Bobby Gillis.  Her grandchildren are Katrina Collins, Savanah Stillwell, Clayton Jobst , Emily LeVault, Hannah Rubsam, Olivia Collins, Evan Evans, Somer Evans, Nathan Shackelford, Kora Shackelford, and great grandchildren Courtney & Riley Phillips. Pat’s grandchildren called her “Gammy”.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Lena Gillis, sons, Virgil Bryan Collins and Gregory Scott Collins.

Pat received a degree at Lakeland College in 1988 and graduated from Ivy Tech College in Terre Haute, IN in 1992. She retired as an LPN in long term care. Pat was also quite the local entrepreneur owning and operating the Main Room Restaurant in Casey, IL.  Pat worked with her Mother & Grandmother for many years in the restaurant they owned called the Country Kitchen. She was a Christian in faith. She enjoyed cooking, singing, dancing, movies, playing classical music on the piano, shopping, new trends and reading. Pat also took pride in being a homemaker.

Cremation rites will be observed with graveside inurnment held at a later date by her family in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery in Casey, IL.
