Pat Tranberg of Casey, IL passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at the age of 98.

Pat is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law; David and Sheryl (Woodstock, GA) and Rhon and Lori (McCordsville, IN); his grandchildren, Lauren, Jace, Tyler, Lindsay, Logan and MacKenzie; and his great-grandchildren, Griffin, Adaline, Faye, Olivia and Everly.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Mitzi, his parents Axel and Anna Maude Tranberg, and his sister, Inga MacDougal.

Pat was born in Gary, Indiana on February 4, 1924.  He grew up in Portage, IN and attended Portage High School, where he excelled in several sports and became a highly regarded baseball player.  Upon graduation, Pat attended Purdue University briefly before transferring to the University of Kentucky to pursue a business degree and play baseball for Wildcats.  He graduated from UK in 1948, and then served in the U.S. Army.  Pat then began a successful career with Commercial Credit Corporation in Indianapolis.

While on business in 1951, he met Mitzi McGinness, while playing golf at the Casey Country Club.  That round of golf changed his life forever. They married in 1952, and in 1958 the family moved to Casey, where he joined the family business, McGinness Building Materials. Pat worked there until his retirement in 1994.

Pat was a devoted husband and father, and was active in several civic organizations, including the Scottish Rite, Shriners Club, and Casey Lions Club.  He was also a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.

Pat remained an avid golfer throughout his life, with memberships at the Casey Country Club and Quail Creek Country Club in Robinson, IL. Pat was a past president of the Casey Country Club and held director roles at Quail Creek.  Pat also served on the Board of Directors of the Bank of Casey.  Pat will always be remembered for his boisterous laugh and strong business acumen.

The Tranberg family would like to thank the entire staff at the Casey Health Center for the exemplary care and the love shown to Pat during his stay there.  Per his wishes, there will be no public service.  Markwell Funeral Home will be handling arrangements for his ashes to be placed at his beloved wife Mitzi’s gravesite.  Donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O.
