Norman Truelove Sr. Obituary

Norman Leon Truelove, Sr., age 82, left our world to be with our Heavenly Father on Saturday, September 4, 2021.  He was born September 18, 1938 in Paris, IL the son of John Ralph Truelove and Violet Whitkanack Truelove. On June 20, 1959 he married Mildred. J. Bertholf in Bremerton, WA.

Surviving are his older brother Harold L. Truelove (Abby); his younger sister Eldina Lewis, his wife of 62 years Mildred J. Truelove of Casey, IL; daughter Ronda Wilson of Brazil, IN; son Norman L. Truelove (Richel) of Martinsville, IL; son Daniel P. Truelove of Casey, IL;  son, Jeffery A. Truelove (Lori) of Casey, IL; twelve grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Christina Mignon Truelove; granddaughter, Audria Mignon Truelove and son, John Eugene Truelove.

Norman was a graduate of Marshall High School.  He met his wife while serving his country in the US Navy and they soon became one, married; started life and his big family.  Norman worked at Velsicol until its closing and farmed throughout his life.  After Velsicol closed Norman began learning to drive a truck; he then decided to buy his own truck and eventually started his own company.  Norman loved our country and his family.  He taught them the meaning of hard work and up until his retirement from trucking he was always one the hardest workers his family has ever known.  Norman had friends all over but mainly liked to go back and forth to Los Angeles, CA.

“Dad taught us to work hard and be respectful to others, love the Lord and our families.  We miss you already dad and love you with all our hearts.  I’m sure you’re living it up with the Angels right now and dancing on the streets of gold.  Until we get to see you again in Heaven just know you were loved and appreciated very much.”

Graveside services with military honors with Martinsville American Legion will be held privately at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Martinsville, IL at a later date.
