Mary Ann (Buswell) Stoutin McNeil

Mary Ann McNeil, age 81, of Casey, IL passed away at 8:01 p.m. on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Heartland Nursing and Rehab in Casey, IL.  She was born August 31, 1940 in Mattoon, IL the daughter of John Stafford Buswell and Mildred Agnes Monahan Buswell.  On April 9, 1960 she married George Milton Stoutin; they were blessed with four children.  She later married Wayne McNeil on May 28, 1981 in Casey, IL; he passed away on October 28, 1999. 

Survivors include her children, Laura Baston of Casey, IL; George Stoutin (Dave) of Saugatuck, MI; John Stoutin (Jan) of Port Saint Lucie, FL and Doug Stoutin (Carey) of Casey, IL; stepsons, Michael McNeil (Bonnie) of Westfield, IL; Jeff McNeil (Tim) of Wellington, FL and Glen McNeil (Monica) of Saugatuck, MI; grandchildren, Brandon Baston, Callie Stoutin, Drew Stoutin, Courtney Stoutin, Jerrod Branson, Hillary Robison, A.J. McNeil, Zachary McNeil, Kelsie Lider, Darby McNeil, Grace McNeil, Drew Davis, Niki McNeil and Grant McNeil; many great grandchildren, nephews, nieces and wonderful friends.   She was preceded in death by her parents, John S. Buswell and Mildred A. Lucas (Clarence); husbands, George Stoutin and Wayne McNeil; her companion of many years, John Arthur Burkhardt, son in law, LeRoy Junior Baston and grandson, Jeremy James Baston.

Mary Ann was a 1958 graduate of Champaign Catholic High School.  She and George were co-owners of Snake Trail Campground and I-70 Beverage Mart in Casey, IL.  Mary Ann served as Treasurer for the City of Casey for over 15 years and was manager of Goben Oil Company’s Stop N Shop Convenience Store in Casey for over 14 years.  She later worked alongside her children at Stoutin Premium Ice Co. in Casey.  Mary Ann was an avid reader and a faithful member of the Mint to Garden Club in Casey.  She always enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.   

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Markwell Funeral Home with Mr. Andy Brenton officiating.  Burial will follow in Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL.  Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. prior to the service on Saturday at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL. (Per CDC Guidelines indoor masks and face coverings are required regardless of vaccination status in the facility.  Attendees should also practice social distancing.)
