Mary Ellen Richardson, age 91, of Bardstown, KY formerly of West Terre Haute, IN passed away at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown, KY. She was born on December 29, 1929 in Sullivan, IL the daughter of Leon Kern Epperson and Alice Louise Shull Epperson. On December 22, 1946 she married Leonard Richardson in Westfield, IL; he passed away on December 21, 2012.
Survivors include her son, Gerry Richardson (Jennifer Lancaster) of Kennesaw, GA; daughter, Shelley Duhigg (Richard) of Bardstown, KY; grandchildren, Stacey Zolp (Dennis), Stephanie Kreger (Derek), Rebecca Puckett (Earnest), and Barbara McGee (Chuck); thirteen great grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. She is preceded by her parents, husband of sixty-six years; son, Rex Allen Richardson; and brothers Glenn Epperson (Josephine) of Fort Myers, FL and Jack Epperson of Beloit, WI.
She was employed by Kohls as a head cashier for many years. Mary was a member of the High Hashers Club. She enjoyed gardening, round dancing, and square dancing, which she also enjoyed sharing at the local nursing homes.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Greenwell Funeral Home with Brother Billie Ray Ulrey officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgelawn Cemetery in Martinsville, IL. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on December 16, 2021 prior to the service at Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., Martinsville, IL 62442. (Per CDC guidelines and family request, masks and facial coverings are required regardless of vaccinations status. Attendees should also practice social distancing.)
