Mark Eugene Black

Mark Eugene Black, age 61, of Casey, IL passed away at 11:53 a.m. on Monday, April 15, 2024 at Heartland Nursing and Rehabilitation, Casey, IL. He was born January 4, 1963 in Charleston, IL, the son of Gerald Wayne Black and Irene Marie Verhey Black Sharp.

Survivors include his children, Julie Jones (Jonathan) of Louisville, IL, Trachella Black of DeRidder, LA, Sierra Black of Toledo, IL, and Zech Black of Marshall, IL; siblings, Mike Black of Casey, IL, Tammy Black (David Cox) of Casey, IL, Rondel Black (Angie) of Greenwood, IN; eight grandchildren; several aunts and uncles; several cousins; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Phil Wilkins of Casey, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Roberta Black; and brother, Kevin Black.

Mark attended school in Casey. He was a carpenter and worked for Archie Gowin before becoming an independent contractor. He had also worked for Mike Siebert in Yale working the oilfields and for Huisinga Grain and Farm. Mark was a member of the Casey First Baptist Church. He enjoyed animals and especially loved his sister Tammy’s dog, Odie. Mark loved his family and treasured the time spent with his children and grandchildren.

Graveside inurnment will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 10, 2024 at Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL with Pastor Randy Black officiating.
