Marion Partlow Sr

Marion Partlow, Farmer, Oil Producer, Sportsman dies Sunday in hospital.
Marion Partlow, son of Bertha and the late Henry Partlow passed away on Sunday, June 3, 1962 at 10:50 a.m. in Union Hospital, Terre Haute, IN. after six months illness of cancer.
Marion was born May 20, 1916 in Casey and passed away at the age of 46 years and 14 days. He was married to Jane Alkire in June 1936, and was the father of three children: son, Marion, Jr. of Casey, IL; daughter, Roanna, at home and a daughter, Carole Anne, who preceded him in death on February 21, 1955. Also surviving besides the wife, mother, son and daughter is a grandson, Marshall.
Marion was a prominent area farmer, sportsman, and owner and was well known over the country for his racing stable, Partlow Farms. Partlow Farms was breeders of thoroughbred race horses. He was a partner of Big Top Racing Stables, associated with Partlow and Cochonour oil producers, nationally known as a trap shooter, holding many state and national championships as a Class AA shooter, and was recognized as one of the fastest doubles shooters. He had a national reputation as a trap shooter, having on several occasions have been named to the All-American team by the sporting magazine, "Field and Stream." In his younger days, he was classed as the fastest softball pitcher in the Wabash Valley. He was also a bowling enthusiast and sponsored a bowling team which was tops.
He was a member of the Restitution Church and Casey Rotary Club, a Mason and Shriner, also active in local and civic affairs.
Funeral services in charge of Markwell and Sons will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, June 5, 1962 at the Casey Evangelical United Brethren Church at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. C.R. Randall of Troy, Ohio officiating, assisted by Rev. Albert Murphy. Burial will be in the Partlow Cemetery, southeast of Casey, IL.
The body is at the Markwell Funeral Home where friends may call until noon Tuesday, when it will be taken to the church and there lie in state until time of the services.

Services will be held at the Casey Evangelical United Brethren Church.
