Loretta Mae Goble, age 88, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 12:55 a.m. on Monday, January 2, 2023 at Casey Health Care Center in Casey, IL. She was born April 18, 1934, in Casey, IL, the daughter of Everett Riley and Zona Ethel Smith. On October 23, 1954, she married Charles Joseph Goble at the home of Loretta’s brother, Rev. Hugh Smith in Casey, IL. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage before he passed away on July 13, 2012.
Survivors include children, Diane (Wyatt) Reeley of DeBary, FL, Debbie (Rocky) Johnson of Martinsville, IL, Gary Goble of Casey, IL, Brenda Marquis of Marshall, IL and Brian (Angel) Goble of Marshall, IL; grandchildren, Clint (Alyssa) Johnson, Logan (Lauren) Reeley, Dylan Reeley, Justin Goble, Austin (Taylor) Francis, Leslie Goble, Bradyn (Ashley) Budde, Breah (Jascanel) Ferreras, and Jess (Bailie) Nikolai; eleven great grandchildren; brother, George Smith of Cridersville, OH; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; siblings, Hugh, Howard, Robert, Eleanor, Clifford, Inez, and Roy; daughter, Lori Ann; granddaughter, Ashley Nikolai; and son-in-law, Mark Marquis.
Loretta was a 1952 graduate of Casey High School in Casey, IL and worked at the Casey National Bank prior to starting her family. In 1974 she started as a Librarian for the Martinsville Public Library where she worked for over 26 years until her retirement. Loretta was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her entire life was devoted to her family, and she frequently put the family’s needs ahead of her own. She enjoyed reading, computer games, and puzzles. For several years, she also enjoyed being a local volunteer for the Meals on Wheels program.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Greenwell Funeral Home with Keith Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Martinsville IL. Visitation will be held from 10 – 11 a.m. prior to the service on Thursday at Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., Martinsville, IL.
