Leon McNurlan

Leon McNurlan, age 83, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 1:40 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at his home.  He was born April 4, 1936 in Martinsville, IL, the son of John Edward McNurlan and Esther Odell Brown McNurlan.  On January 19, 1958 he married Helen Marie Chapman in Casey, IL; she passed away on December 23, 1982.

Survivors include his children, Lloyd McNurlan (Iris) of Martinsville, IL; Bill McNurlan (Patty) of Casey, IL; Kathryn Warfel (Charles) of Casey, IL and Carla Higginbotham (Greg) of Martinsville, IL; brother, Ned McNurlan of TX; sister, Bonnie Bales of Warsaw, IN; best friend and former wife, Janice McNurlan of Casey, IL; seventeen grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Helen McNurlan; brothers, Ted McNurlan and Lester McNurlan; sisters, Juanita Moody, Evelyn Simons, Nellie Handley and Helen McNurlan.

Leon was a graduate of Casey High School.  He proudly served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War.  Leon owned and operated McNurlan’s Garage in Casey, IL from 1967 – 1991.  He was also a truck driver and moved drilling rigs for M&E Drilling of Casey, IL and worked for Nova Tank and NRG Delivery.  Leon attended the Martinsville Bible Church.  He enjoyed antique tractors and visiting the Gordyville Flea Market. 

Graveside services will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, March 23, 2020 at Washington Street Cemetery, Casey, IL with graveside military honors by Casey VFW and Martinsville American Legion.
