Kona Mae Morrill, age 81, of Martinsville, IL passed away peacefully away at home surrounded by her loving family at 12:38 p.m. on Monday, May 24, 2021. She was born May 7, 1940 in Corning, AR, the daughter of Daniel J. Clement and Audrey Mendenhall Clement. She married John Parker Morrill on May 22, 1958 in Martinsville, IL; he preceded her in death on November 17, 2007.
Survivors include two sons, Brian L. Morrill (Lesa) of Martinsville, IL and Joseph W. Morrill of Marshall, IL; brothers, Terry Clement (Vickie) of Martinsville, IL and Fred Clement (Barb) of Martinsville, IL; sisters, Windy Turner of Plano, IL, Loretta Ikemire (Lloyde) of Sandwich, IL and Anita Finley of Paris, IL; grandchildren, Michael Lee Morrill (Jennifer) of Fruitland Park, FL, Audrey Marie Pickering (Ben) of Dugger, IN; Adam Lee Morrill (Olivia) of Dugger, IN and Sarita Elizabeth Dunne of Mattoon, IL; great grandchildren, Jessica, Oliver, Maxwell, Anastasia, Maddox, Ariana and Dax, many nephews and nieces, her Church family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Jerry Clement, and son, John Eric Morrill.
Kona was a 1958 graduate of Martinsville High School in Martinsville, IL. She was an active member of the community and received the Community Service Award. She was a faithful member of the Bluegrass Church of God and served as Sunday School Assistant Superintendent. Over the years, she enjoyed many things including the Clark County Clowns, Casey Country Line Dancers and also served as the American Legion Auxiliary President. Kona also started and co-founded Santa’s Helpers Organization of Martinsville. She loved children and was a coach in the Boys Little League, Boys Pony League and Girls Softball League. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Greenwell Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Hollensbe officiating. Burial will follow in the Bean Cemetery in rural Martinsville, IL. Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening at Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., Martinsville, IL. (Per CDC guidelines attendees should social distance and wear a cloth face covering,)
