Karen Sue (Phillips) Nebergall

Karen Sue Nebergall, age 71, of Casey, IL passed away at 5:10 p.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Casey Health Care Center, Casey, IL.  She was born December 26, 1951 in Olney, IL the daughter of George H. Phillips and Winnie R. Boxley Phillips.  On June 13, 1970 she married David L Nichols in Newton, IL. She later married Tilford Nebergall, Jr. on August 2, 1992 in Casey, IL; he passed away on May 12, 2005.

Survivors include her daughter, Brenda S. Hamand of Casey, IL and significant other Jonathan; grandchildren, Ca Sandra Nichols of Saunemin, IL; Zachary Nichols of Newton, IL; Andrew Hamand of O’Dell, IL and Roland Hamand of Casey, IL; great grandchildren, Carson, Daniel, Ayden, Koda, Isiaha, Abigail, Jackson, Olivia, Baliegh and Theo; nieces and nephews, Deb Hunt (Jim), Diane Timmins and Derck Nebergall (Piper); sisters, Patti Finley (Marshall) of Edgewood, IL and Marsha Phillips of Newton, IL; many friends and Julie Glidewell Courtney of Robinson, IL who considered her a second mom.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, grandchildren, Kelsie, Angelica and Mariah and several great grandchildren.    

Karen was a 1970 graduate of Newton High School. She attended the Casey First Christian Church.  Karen helped her husband operate Nebergall Heating and Air until his retirement. She then worked for the Effingham Postal Service until her retirement. Karen enjoyed flowers, gardening, reading, traveling, movies, concerts and water exercise. 

At her request there will be no services. Burial of her ashes will be at Casey Cumberland Cemetery in Casey, IL at a later date.
