Joseph Rudolph “Joe” Fischer, III, age 84, of Casey, IL passed away at 7:12 a.m. on Friday, August 25, 2023 at Heartland Nursing Center in Casey, IL. He was born on February 24, 1939 in St. Louis, MO, the son of Joseph Rudolph Fischer, II and Catherine Irene (Grissom) Fischer. On February 14, 1959 he married Patricia Ann Byrd; she passed away on February 7, 2010.
Survivors include his daughter, Annette Fain of Casey, IL; son, Matthew Fischer of Clinton, IN; brother, James Fischer and wife Debbie of Downing, MO; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and special friend, Betty Wofford of Casey, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife of fifty years, Pat; infant daughter, Kimberly Elaine Fischer; and aunt, Doris Liston of St. Louis, MO.
Joe was a footwear designer and engineer at Ettelbrick Shoe Company from 1977 to 1983. He also supported Pat's endeavors with PJ’s Craftworks and their local family business, Antiques & Art. He attended the Casey First Church of the Nazarene and the Casey First Christian Church.
Joe enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time camping and traveling. Joe was a musician playing guitar in several bands and was a huge music lover. He shared his love for music with all who knew him.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Markwell Funeral Home with Pastor Allen Ebbler officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. prior to the service at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Washington Street Cemetery in Casey, IL.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
