John Keith Sherwood

John Keith Sherwood, age 86, of Casey, IL passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023 at 12:45 a.m. at Heartland Nursing and Rehabilitation.  He was born on March 19, 1937 to Howard Wesley Sherwood and Laura Pearl Gray Sherwood in Cumberland County, IL. He married Sandra Mathews on August 15, 1980 in Casey, IL.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Sandy, son, Jeff Sherwood of Casey, IL, daughter, Julie Littlejohn of Casey, IL, stepson, Rodney (Melanie) Mathews of Casey, IL, stepdaughter, Jackie (Tom) Weaver of Casey, IL, grandchildren: Caynan (Abbey) Sherwood of Sullivan, IL, Ian (Bethany) Littlejohn of Casey, IL and Hannah (Kendall) Spicer of Terre Haute, IN; step grandchildren: Nicole Heltsley of Kansas, IL, Trae (Shelby) Nash of Casey, IL, Tara (Josh) Redman of Robinson, IL,  Brittany (David) Miller of Oblong, IL, Whitney (Andy) Cruse of Marshall, IL; great grandchildren: Kassidy and Rhett Sherwood and Harper and Graham Littlejohn, step great grandchildren: Addi and Ellie Heltsley, Ashtyn and Broxtyn Nash, Madisyn and Nash Redman, Cade, Coda, and Mia Miller, and Vivian and Henry Cruse and many nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Robert “Bud” Sherwood, Frank Sherwood, and Darrell “Dean” Sherwood, sisters, Dora Cox and Rosemary Sherwood and son-in-law, Scott Littlejohn.

Keith was a lifelong grain and livestock farmer in the Casey area. He was a 1955 graduate of Casey High School.  Keith served on the Clark County Soil and Water Conservation Board and the Norris Electric Cooperative Board.  He was a member of the Casey Lions Club.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Marsh officiating.  Burial will follow in Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL.  Visitation will be held from 10 – 11 a.m. prior to the service on Thursday morning at the funeral home.
