John Skinner Obituary

John Issacc Skinner, age 64, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 9:39 a.m. on Friday, January 13, 2023 at his residence.  He was born December 26, 1958 in Tuscola, IL, the son of and Don Issacc Skinner and Margaret Marie Steele Skinner. On April 11, 1994 he married Patricia A. “Patty” Remally in Lebanon, IN; she passed away on November 21, 2008.

Survivors include his daughter, Ann Marie Lee (Chris) and grandson, Conner Lee of Florida; nephews, Zachary Pendleton of West Terre Haute, IN and Shane Pendleton (Ashlee) of Martinsville, IL; sister, Elizabeth Ann Thornburgh (Eddie) of Martinsville, IL.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Patty Skinner; sisters, Donna Marie Skinner and Patsy Jean Clark and brother, Don Bailey Skinner.

John was a 1977 graduate of Newman High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp from 1980 – 1992 during Operation Desert Storm.  John was a lifetime member of the Marshall VFW Post 5975; where he previously served as Commander.  John was retired from Bolin Enterprises where he worked as an operations technician.  He was very active in Martinsville city government, previously serving on the city council and park board and was a big supporter of Martinsville athletics.  John was a member of Martinsville Baptist Church.   

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, January 20, 2023 at Martinsville Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Jenkins officiating.  Military rites will follow by Marshall VFW Post 5975 at the Church.  Inurnment will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Martinsville, IL at a later date.  Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Friday at Martinsville Baptist Church, 5 Trotters Lane, Martinsville, IL.
