James "Jim" Linton Obituary

James Edward “Jim” Linton, age 79, of Casey, IL passed away at 9:50 p.m. on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Heartland Nursing and Rehabilitation in Casey, IL.  He was born January 21, 1942 in Marshall IL, the son of Chester Leroy Linton and Mary Margaret (Macke) Linton.  

Survivors include son, James Curtis Linton of Westfield, IL; daughter, Michelle Layne (Linton) Short of Westfield, IN; grandchildren, Toni Hilburn of St. Louis, MO, Kierstin Naylor (Zack) of Universal, IN, Allison Layman (Jeremy) of Dana, IN, and Abigail and Benjamin Short of Westfield, IN; great grandchildren, Simon Hilburn, Brantley and Mavric Layman, Aadia Kajander, Zeegan and Karsyn Naylor; brothers, Robert Linton of Paris, IL, Jack Linton (Mary) of Bonita Springs, FL and Richard Linton (Sue) of Streator, IL; sister, Faye Eitel (Steve) of Paris, IL; former wife and friend, Mary Ann Linton of Casey, IL; many nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, his Church family and many business acquaintances.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers in law, Dean Urick and Ronnie Haworth; and sister in law, Rosemary Linton.    

Jim was a 1959 graduate of Martinsville High School and he served in the U.S. Army.  He was parts manager for Hutton’s in Casey, IL and Shanks Motor Company in Terre Haute, IN before entering the insurance business.  Jim owned and operated Cumberland County Insurance Agency in Casey, IL.  He was a member of Westfield United Methodist Church, Casey Lions Club, Casey Moose Lodge, Round Grove Sportsman’s Club and the NRA.   

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.   

Memorial donations may be made to the Westfield United Methodist Church, 225 S. Madison St., Westfield, IL 62474.
