James Howard Sharp

James H. Sharp, age 85, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 8:45 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Coles County, IL. He was born July 28, 1938 in Casey, IL the son of Howard Woodrow Sharp and Helen Janet (McCrory) Sharp. On May 18, 1974 he married Irene Marie (Verhey) Sharp in Marshall, IL; she passed away on February 19, 2015.

James is survived by his sister, Marilyn Brown of Casey, IL; nephew, John Brown (Amy) of Casey, IL; niece, Sherri Scheurich of Boca Raton, FL; 3 great nephews, 3 great nieces and cousin, Bernie Atkins of Casey.   He is preceded by his parents, wife of forty-years, Irene Sharp; infant son, James H. Sharp, Jr. and his faithful Labrador companion, Earl.

James was a 1955 graduate of Casey High School.  He also attended Lake Land College, Mattoon, IL.  He proudly served his country in the US Airforce. James retired from Blaw-Knox Fabrication in Mattoon, IL where he was a welder. He was a lifetime member of the NRA. James enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting.  He also enjoyed spending his time with his dog, Earl and walking.

Graveside service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL with Pastor Adrian Piazza officiating.  Military rites will be provided by Casey VFW and Martinsville American Legion.
