Iris Evelyn (Huffman) McComas

Iris Evelyn McComas, age 92, of Casey, IL passed away to her heavenly home on Friday, November 25, 2022 at Heartland Nursing and Rehabilitation in Casey, IL. She was born on August 19, 1930 to Everett Wayne Huffman and Normah Iola (Gross) Huffman of Casey, IL. On May 18, 1952, she married Robert “Bob” Lloyd McComas; he passed away on October 12, 1984. Together Iris and Robert raised three beautiful children, Rebecca “Becky”, Teresa, and Loyd.

Iris enjoyed being a wife, raising her children, and being a grandma. She loved leading and attending Bible studies and took several mission trips to the Navajo Reservation in New Mexico where she taught Vacation Bible School and worked with the mothers and children. Iris was a faithful member of Casey White Oak Church of God for over eighty years. She was always available to lend a listening ear, heart, and share in prayer with those around her. She was a supporter of missions abroad as well as supporting others in her own community when she could. Later in life, she enjoyed doing puzzles and visiting with the residents, visitors, and staff of Heartland.

Iris is survived by her daughter, Teresa (Mike) Black of Villa Grove, IL; son, Loyd (Brenda) McComas of Casey, IL; son-in-law, Jim (Julie) Hardway, of Camargo, IL; six grandchildren, Kari Beesley (Danny Price), Brandon Hardway (Erin Duncan), Josh Black, Heather VonLanken (Jeremy), Christopher McComas, and Abby Collins (Josh); and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter, Becky Hardway.

Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Markwell Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Martin and Pastor Larry Howard officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL. Private burial will be held in the Washington Street Cemetery, Casey, IL.
