Harry Franklin Blunk Jr., age 51, of Springfield, IL formerly of Martinsville, IL passed away at 1:47 a.m. on Friday, October 29, 2021 at Landmark of Des Plaines Rehabilitation in Des Plaines, IL. He was born December 21, 1969 in Terre Haute, IN the son of Harry Franklin Blunk Sr. and Shirley Ellen Williams Blunk.

Survivors include his sister, Carmen Rubo (William) of Sharon WI; nieces, Shirley Strader (Jarrod) of Russellville, KY, Jenifer Runnells (James) of Sharon, WI and Aileen Bouche (Dale) of Sharon Grove, KY; five great nieces and eight great nephews. Harry is preceded in death by his parents and his half-brother, Bradley Blunk.

Harry owned and operated HB Construction in Martinsville, IL and later worked at the Rowe Foundry also in Martinsville. He was a very skilled artist and enjoyed tattooing friends and family in his spare time. In 1992 he received a degree for Horticulture Technician and graduated with High Honors. Harry found strength and comfort in his Catholic faith. He had a rough time growing up but persevered and loved his country. He loved his family and friends and took pride in helping them anyway he could. He was a great counselor, who helped many overcome life obstacles.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 8, 2021 at Greenwell Funeral Home with Pastor David Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgelawn Cemetery, Martinsville, IL. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., Martinsville, IL. (Per CDC guidelines, face coverings are required regardless of vaccination status. Please also maintain social distancing.)
