Frederick A. “Fred” Irby, age 71, of Casey, IL passed away unexpectedly at 5:35 p.m. on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Carle Hospital ER in Urbana, IL. He was born August 20, 1949 in Casey, IL the son of Elvin Irby and Myrta Leo Anderson Irby. On January 1, 1978 he married Kendra Jean Galey in Casey, IL; she passed away on July 29, 2016.
Survivors include daughter, Michela Dill of Shelbyville, IL; grandson, Ricky Joe Dill of Martinsville, IL; sisters, Leota Winnett of Casey, IL; Mary Lou Evans (Bill) of Toledo, IL and Sue Wells (Steve) of Casey, IL; brother in law, Reggie Galey (Carol) of Charleston, IL and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Kendra Irby; sons, Freddie Irby, Jr., Ward Wayne Irby and Rodney Eugene Dill; sister, Emma Kemper and granddaughter, Nicole Dill.
Fred was a 1968 graduate of Casey High School. He attended Bailey Tech in St. Louis, MO. Fred worked for Trailmobile in maintenance for over 28 years until closing. In 2002 he began working for the Casey John Deere Implement as a mechanic; he retired in 2015. Fred enjoyed hunting and was an instructor for hunter safety courses for children. He was a member of the America Hunting Club; Charleston Moose Lodge and a lifetime member of Greenup Sportsman’s Club. He especially enjoyed riding his Harley.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Markwell Funeral Home with Luke Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 1 – 2 p.m. prior the service on Tuesday at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL. (Per CDC guidelines attendees should social distance and wear a cloth face covering.)
