Fred Roy Clement

Fred Roy Clement, age 81, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 1:55 a.m. on Friday, April 21, 2023 at Willowbrook in Marshall, IL. He was born on December 26, 1941 in Corning, AR, the son of Daniel Julian “Arkie” Clement and Audrey Mendenhall Clement. On September 14, 1963 he married Janice Darlene Madlem in Martinsville, IL; she passed away June 27, 2014. On August 14, 2016 he married Barbara Lee Van Houten Veach in Martinsville.

Survivors include his loving wife, Barbara Veach Clement of Martinsville, IL; children, Jim Clement of Martinsville, IL, Cindy Maxey (Don) of Martinsville, IL, Becky Clement of Martinsville, IL, Doug Clement (Becky) of Casey, IL; stepchildren, David M. Veach (Janet) of Westfield, IL, and Jeff W. Veach of Martinsville, IL; six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, eight step grandchildren, thirteen step great grandchildren, two step great great grandchildren; brother, Terry Clement (Vickie) of Martinsville, IL; sisters, Loretta Ikemire (Lloyde) of Sandwich, IL, Wendy Turner of Plano, IL, and Anita Finley of Paris, IL. He was preceded by his parents and wife, Janice Darlene Madlem; stepson, Jim Veach and Eric Veach; brother, Jerry Clement; and sister, Kona Morrill.

Fred was a 1960 graduate of Martinsville High School. He proudly served in the Army National Guard and was a Vietnam Era Veteran. Fred retired from Rowe Foundry after working for forty-two years. He attended Martinsville First Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Martinsville American Legion and Honor Guard and Modern Woodsmen. Fred also served on the city council, fair board, police auxiliary, and fire department in Martinsville. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, gardening, and outdoor activities.

Funeral service with military rites will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 24, 2023 at Greenwell Funeral Home, Martinsville, IL with Brother Kevin Small and Brother Billie Ray Ulrey officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Martinsville, IL. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Monday prior to the service at Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., Martinsville, IL. Military rites will be provided by the Casey VFW and Martinsville American Legion.
