Obituary

Everett Russell Clapp, age 83, of Westfield, IL entered his heavenly home at 3:51 p.m. on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.  He was born October 24, 1939 in Paris, IL, the son of John Leslie Clapp and Pearl (Maggart) Clapp.  On September 16, 1961 he married Joyce Green in Casey, IL.

Survivors include his wife of almost 62 years, Joyce Clapp of Westfield, IL; son, Bruce Clapp (Lynda) of Danville, IN; daughter, Brenda Blanchard (Wesley) of Pekin, IL; grandchildren, Caroline Clapp, Thomas Blanchard (Tara), Angie Clapp, Ashley Blanchard, Evie Clapp and Breanna Blanchard; great granddaughter Adiana Kennedy; sister, Joan Kirkley (Clarence) of Hanna City, IL, many in-laws, nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, cousins, his Church family, community and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Aaron Hamilton Clapp.

Everett was a 1958 graduate of Westfield High School.  He owned and operated Clapp’s Auto Paint Shop in Westfield from 1961 until his retirement in 2017.  Everett also farmed with his father in law, Rev. Gaylord Green for many years and most recently helped his nephew, Darrell Lang on the farm.  Everett and Joyce were faithful members of Casey First Baptist Church, where he previously served as a deacon.  He was a former member of Westfield Lions Club, member and deacon of Westfield Baptist Church and was always willing to lend a helping hand to any community endeavor. 

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Casey First Baptist Church with Pastor Jon McDonald, Pastor Gene Ellis, and Pastor Tom Marsh officiating.  Burial will follow in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Westfield, IL. Visitation will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. on Friday evening at Casey First Baptist Church, 101 E. Alabama St., Casey, IL.
