Evelyn Beatrice (Rich) Gilbert

Evelyn Beatrice Gilbert, age 87, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 1:25 p.m. on Monday, October 26, 2020 at Heartland Nursing and Rehab in Casey, IL.  She was born March 4, 1933 in Robinson, IL the daughter of Joseph Clarence Rich and Vada Gladys Simons Rich.  On August 17, 1957 she married James Edward Gilbert in Martinsville, IL; he passed away on July 22, 2003.

Survivors include her daughters, Lori Williamson (Randy) of Annapolis, IL; Lisa Logan of Martinsville, IL and Linda Carpenter of Martinsville, IL; grandchildren, Kurt Williamson, Kayla York (Michael), Landon Logan, Levi Logan and Blake Carpenter; great grandchildren, Lincoln York and Rowan York.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sisters, Marie Chapman and Elsie Sutphin.

Mrs. Gilbert was a 1952 graduate of Robinson High School.  She was a homemaker and had previously worked at the Shoe Factory in Robinson, IL and was a school bus driver for Martinsville School District.  Evelyn was a faithful member of Willow Creek Church and was a member of CPWM.  She enjoyed cooking, canning, feeding the birds, watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball and most of all the time she spent with her grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 30, 2020 at Greenwell Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Small officiating. Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery, rural Martinsville, IL.  Visitation will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. on Thursday evening at Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., Martinsville, IL.  (Per CDC guidelines, 50 attendees are allowed inside our facility at a time. Attendees should stay at least 6 feet apart and wear a cloth face covering.)
