Obituary
Emily Ann (Paprotske) Bishop, age 78, of Charleston, IL formerly of Toledo, IL and Paris, IL passed away at 10:07 a.m. on March 2, 2023 at her residence. She was born October 23, 1944 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Edward and Phyllis (Coger) Paprotske. On March 2, 1973, a love story began as she married Larry Gene Bishop, Sr. in Pekin, IL; he sadly passed away on March 8, 2016. As love stories often have happy endings, Emily’s passing occurred on the couples 50th Wedding Anniversary and their family finds peace knowing they were celebrating it together in heaven.
Survivors include her sons, Larry Gene Bishop, Jr. (Juli Rathe) of Greenup, IL and Luke Henry Bishop (Peggy Curl) of Charleston, IL; stepchildren, Jimmy Eugene Bishop (Diane Crunk) of Strattanville, PA and Kelly Walters; grandchildren, Christopher M. Curl of Waterloo, IA, Jacob A. Bishop of Charleston, IL, Jennifer N. Bishop of Charleston, IL, and Jerik W. Bishop of Greenup, IL; numerous step-grandchildren and great grandchildren; and brothers, Dave Lavanway of Denver, CO and Pete Babb of Huntsville, AL. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; beloved stepdaughter, Tonya K. Mayo and great granddaughter, Haley Nicole Mayo; step-grandsons, Jimmy Bishop, Jr. and Derrick E. Bishop; and siblings, Nancy Waltz, Phyllis Landis, and Steve Lavanway.
Emily was a 1962 graduate of Scottland High School. She was a retired Purchasing Officer in the business office at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL. Emily was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Greenup, IL. She enjoyed camping, thrift shopping, traveling, and spending time with the grandkids and her dog, Prissy.
At her request cremation rites were accorded. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
