Doris Mae (Seaton) Buckle

Doris Mae (Seaton) Buckle, age 92, of Hutsonville, IL passed away at 1:10 p.m. on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at her home with her loved ones by her side.  She was born December 23, 1929 in Martinsville, IL, the daughter of Vern Arthur and Bessie (Lacey) Seaton.  On September 18, 1947 she married John Elam Buckle in Marshall, IL.  Together they shared fifty years of marriage before he passed away on November 21, 1997.

Survivors include her children, Dwight Buckle (Debbie Price) of Hutsonville, IL; Patricia “Patty” Rigg (Jerry) of Bellmont, IL; grandchildren, Stacey Legg (Lanny), Michelle Woods (Dylan), Kristie Jo Meyers (Mark) and Andrew Buckle (Jaye); ten great grandchildren and many nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, James Sidney Seaton (Arlene) and Donald Wayne Seaton and sisters, Ruby Connelly (Grendel) and Zella Marie Staley (Henry).

Doris was a Water Oak High School graduate and continued her education.  She enjoyed her profession as a nurse for over thirty years.  She worked for Dr. Bill Daugherty in Hutsonville, IL until her retirement. Doris enjoyed playing the piano, which she played by ear.  She enjoyed playing Uno, Dominos and Skip Bo with her children and grandchildren.  Doris took great pride in caring for her garden and yard; she also raised beautiful African violets.  She was a member of the Mount Olive Congregational Church. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Greenwell Funeral Home with Pastor Vaughn Courter officiating.  Burial will follow in Mount Olive – Kickapoo Cemetery, rural Martinsville, IL. Visitation will be held from 10 – 11 a.m. on Tuesday prior to the service at Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., Martinsville, IL. (Per CDC Guidelines face coverings are required regardless of vaccination status in the facility.  Attendees should also practice social distancing.)
