Doris Marie Orrell, age 80, of Casey IL passed away at 8:49 a.m. on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at Union Hospital, Terre Haute, IN. She was born May 20, 1941 in Wheeler, IL, the daughter of Dorris R. Palmore and Vera Kathleen Wilson Palmore Wood. On September 21, 1959 she married James Benjamin Orrell in Hoguetown, IL; he passed away on November 13, 2017.
Survivors include her daughters, Dena Shull (Rodney) of Casey, IL; Debbie Knierim (Doug) of Casey, IL and Victoria Norton (Kelly) of Martinsville, IL; grandchildren, Kristy Huckaba (Clayton), Jessica Stinson (Aaron), Kyle Shull (Ashley), Kevin Shull (Kristin), Ryan Shull (Hannah) and Jordan Marie Norton; great grandchildren, Ellie, Kaden, Kase, Owen, Lila, Leo, Riley and Roman Shull; Ashton and Ethan Huckaba and Carter and Wyatt Stinson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and infant granddaughter, Ashley Marie Knierim.
Doris was a 1959 graduate of Casey High School and a lifetime resident of Casey, IL. Ben and Doris worked together as independent oil producers in the Illinois Basin. She was known for her dedication to the Casey Softball Association and was inducted into the ASA Softball Hall of Fame. Doris enjoyed quilting and attending her daughters, grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s activities.
Memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Markwell Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Blanchard and Pastor Kevin Small officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday prior to the service at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL. Private burial was held in Restitution Cemetery, rural Casey, IL.
