Donna Ruth (Shanks) Hacker

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at Salisbury Church, Hutton, IL. 

A reception will immediately follow the Memorial Service at the Church.

Donna Ruth (Shanks) Hacker, age 64, of Westfield, IL passed away at 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at her home after a courageous battle with ALS.  She was born April 5, 1955 in Terre Haute, IN, the daughter of Rev. Don Shanks and Mary Alice Kibler Shanks.  On January 12, 1979 she married Jeffery Dean Hacker in Jasper County, IL.

Survivors include her husband of forty-one years, Jeff Hacker of Westfield, IL; sons, Jeremy Hacker (Mary) of Westfield, IL and Aaron Hacker (Chelsie) of Westfield, IL; daughter, Jana Hacker of Bradley, IL; brothers, Roy Shanks (Debbie) of Casey, IL and Robert Shanks of Casey, IL; sisters, Debbie Krigbaum (Gary) of Boonville, IN and Nina Meeker (Charles) of Casey, IL; grandchildren, Jackson, Jerrick, Delaney, Tyler, Joanna, Eliza, Matthias, Lainie and Reuben; many uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and her beloved dog, Sugar.  She was preceded in death by her parents, sister in law, Hope Shanks and brother in law, Monty Hacker.

Donna was a 1973 graduate of Casey High School and a 1978 graduate of Bethel College.  She worked as a caregiver and a substitute teacher.  She enjoyed working and caring for children especially in her home daycare.  Donna was a faithful member of Salisbury Church.  She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, quilting, gardening, canning and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
