Donald Ray “Donnie” Wetherholt, age 77, passed away at 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2021at St. Joseph Hospital in Joliet, IL. He was born December 17, 1943 in Evansville, IN the son of Berlyn Wetherholt and Rosemond Louise Wallace Weatherholt.
Donnie was a graduate of Casey High School. He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Donnie worked in the gear lab, inspection department and was a machine operator for over 35 years at Caterpillar in Joliet, IL. He was an avid bowler and golfer; he excelled in both and participated in many tournaments locally and throughout the United States.
Survivors include the Donald “Bud” and Mary Lou Brandenburg family from Casey, IL; close friends in Casey, IL and Joliet, IL, neighbors and co-workers from his Caterpillar years. He was preceded in death by his parents, uncles, aunts and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 5, 2021 at Markwell Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Toner officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Street Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 10 – 10:30 a.m. prior to the service on Friday morning at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL. (Per CDC guidelines, 50 attendees are allowed inside our facility at a time. Attendees should stay at least 6 feet apart and wear a cloth face covering.)
