Dean Roberts

Dean Roberts, age 97, of Casey, IL passed away at 12:25 a.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at Marshall Rehab and Nursing Center in Marshall, IL. He was born March 27, 1926 in Martinsville, IL, the son of Roy Lee Roberts and Alma Leona (Swope) Roberts.  On February 14, 1994 he married Sharon K. (Cline) Veach in Las Vegas, NV.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Veach Roberts of Casey, IL; sons, Edwin Roberts (Susan) of Bethalto, IL; Jackie L. Roberts (Brenda) of Casey, IL; Michael Lee Roberts (Connie) of Casey, IL and David Roberts of Casey, IL; grandchildren, Joy Robertson (Doug) of Bethalto, IL; Jay Roberts (Courtney Graham) of Pekin, IL; Jason Roberts of Casey, IL; Travis Roberts (Jennifer) of Effingham, IL; Traci Worby (David) of Casey, IL; Wade Roberts of Casey, IL and Josh Roberts (Lindsay) of Casey, IL; 24 great grandchildren; brothers, Doit and Earl; sisters, Norma and Ernestine and several nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Leona; brothers, Max, Verlyn, Ernie, Forrest and sisters, Lela, Neva, Lucille and Freda.

Dean was a US Navy veteran, serving his country during WWII. He was a member of Local Union 171 in Charleston, IL.  He worked as a union laborer on bridge and road work for over 35 years.  Dean had a “small ranch” where enjoyed raising goats, cattle and horses.  He enjoyed working and spent his free time remodeling homes and building utility sheds.

Graveside services and burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Olive Branch Cemetery, 2892 N. 1000th St., Martinsville, IL with Pastor Tom Marsh officiating.  Military honors will be provided by Casey VFW and Martinsville American Legion.
